Three Reasons to Consider Van Kampen Small Cap Growth Fund

  1. Overall Morningstar RatingTM as of 3/31/08*
Morningstar awarded Van Kampen Small Cap Growth Fund 4 stars for the Overall Morningstar Rating against 681 U.S.-domiciled small growth funds based on risk-adjusted returns. Morningstar rates mutual funds from one to five stars based on how well they’ve performed compared to similar funds (after adjusting for risk and accounting for all sales charges).* The Overall Morningstar Rating for this fund is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its 3-, 5- and 10-year, if applicable, Morningstar Rating metrics.
  2. An experienced management team**
The fund is managed by the Small Cap Growth team, headed by Matthew Hart.
  3. Proven investment philosophy
In April 2002, Matthew Hart assumed lead management of  Van Kampen Small Cap Growth Fund. The team employs a  hybrid of quantitative and fundamental analysis to construct  the portfolio. They believe that their bottom-up investment process will lead them to companies with growth rates that are potentially higher and more sustainable than what is implied by current valuations and market expectations in the small-cap growth space.

Consider this fund if you:

  • Seek capital appreciation over the long-term
  • Are willing to take on the increased risks of investing in smaller companies
  • Seek to add a growth style of investing in common stocks and other equity securities of small companies

* Morningstar rated this fund (Class A shares) 4 stars for the overall, 4 stars for the 3-year and 5-year periods among 681, 681 and 561 U.S.-domiciled small cap growth funds, respectively, based on risk-adjusted returns. For each fund with at least a 3-year history, Morningstar calculates a Morningstar RatingTM based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a fund’s monthly performance (including the effects of sales charges, loads and redemption fees), placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The top 10% of funds in each category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. (Each share class is counted as a fraction of one fund within this scale and rated separately, which may cause slight variations in the distribution percentages.) Morningstar Rating is for Class A shares only; other classes may have different performance characteristics. ©2008 Morningstar, Inc. All Rights Reserved. Risk Considerations

There is no assurance that a mutual fund will achieve its investment objective. Funds are subject to market risk, which is the possibility that the market values of securities owned by the fund will decline and that the value of fund shares may therefore be less than what you paid for them. Accordingly, you can lose money investing in this fund. Please be aware that this fund may be subject to certain additional risks. Small-cap stocks. Stocks of small-sized companies carry special risks, such as limited product lines, markets, and financial resources, and greater market volatility than securities of larger, more-established companies. Foreign and emerging markets. Investments in foreign markets entail special risks such as currency, political, economic, and market risks. The risks of investing in emerging-market countries are greater than the risks generally associated with foreign investments.
